License Management

The Objective

Individual departments with autonomous budgets should be able to purchase licenses for simultaneous use by a limited number of users, or licenses that are restricted to certain persons, workstations or organizational units, instead of site or company-wide licenses. The technical infrastructure must enforce the license conditions.
To reduce costs, licenses should be purchased for the actual users of e-resources, rather than site or company-wide licenses.
During the subscription period, the use of the e-resource must be logged and analyzed so that the users can be billed, or so that the number of licenses can be adapted to the actual demand.

HAN provides the solution:

Integrated license management and license control: HAN allows you to define not only which users can access each individual e-resource, but also how many users may access each e-resource simultaneously.. HAN logs the use of e-resources and can analyze the number of licenses actually used simultaneously for each e-resource, so that the number of licenses purchased can be adjusted to the actual demand. Furthermore, HAN's usage statistics function allows the administrator to generate all kinds of numeric and graphic analyses, which can then serve as the basis for future license conditions or detailed billing.
